#Import fencers to Fencing Time

Before creating a tournament, you need to ensure all fencers are in the Fencing Time database with the same exact name used in all cases.

Fencing Time includes national federation membership databases; if all of your fencers are part of a national fencing federation (e.g., USA Fencing), then you can skip this step and procede to setting up your tournament and seeding it.

If your fencers are not all part of a national federation, you will need to import them.

  1. Get to the Fencing Time home screen. You will need to close any tournament you may have open (File → Close Tournament).
  2. Open the fencer database by clicking View → Fencer Database. A pop-up window will appear.
  3. Click Import Fencers at the bottom of the pop-up window. The Import Fencer Data Wizard will appear. Click next.
  4. Now you can select the appropriate CSV format.
    • If "bouts.app seeding format" appears from the list, select that and click next.
    • Otherwise, select None of the above and click next.
      • Select the file you will be using to import. You can download this from the seeding page of your conference's bouts.app site.
      • Now Fencing Time will ask you to describe the file format. Use the following settings in table at the end of this section.
      • Check the Save this CSV file format for futures use box, then click next.
      • Enter "bouts.app seeding format" as the name in the Save CSV Format window. Click OK.
  5. You will see that X clubs and Y people were imported. Click Finish.
  6. When prompted if any clubs represent "Unattached", do not select any. Click next.
  7. You're done importing fencers to the database. Now you can set up your tournament.
